One of the coolest things about starting Little Blue Canoe, was realizing how small the world is and how fun it is when paths start crossing and colliding. After meeting the lovely Kelsey Santucci (who did this fabulous Guest Post) earlier this summer, I would follow along to see what she was up to via Instagram. When Kelsey was getting married, I would follow her wedding hashtag, and I kept coming across lovely posts by Kelsey's dear friend, Justine Maguire (@justinecelina). I started following Justine and loved how she always came across on social media. Classy, fashionable, smart and friendly. The odd time we would swap comments on Instagram (usually about Kelsey's amazing wedding), so I reached out to see if we could meet. Sure enough, Justine was all those things I had thought she was, and more, in real life (I LOVE when that happens!). APPLE CARROT LEMON GINGER JUICE
When life gives you lemons; you find some apples, carrots, and ginger -- then you make this delicious juice! It's such an easy recipe that I almost didn’t want to share, but this is one of my all-time favourite fresh juices. Sometimes simple really is best. Enjoy this little bit of sunshine in a glass whenever you need a quick dose of vitamins and antioxidants to cleanse your digestive system and rev up your metabolism. I make it often, since I usually have these ingredients on hand -- it always makes me feel great and gives me tons of energy.

AUTUMN HARVEST SOUP WITH ROASTED SQUASH SEEDS
I love to make soup in the fall, and squash based soups are my favourite. So, I decided to take all the delicious things I had in my kitchen that were in fresh and in season, and roast them with warming, autumnal spices. I picked up tons of squash and apples at a fresh food market in Creston, BC recently (where they grow their produce on a farm right behind the market), and I combined them with carrots, onions, and some rhubarb from my friend Heather's garden (you can't eat more local than that!). I also roasted the squash seeds and use them for a garnish! This soup is the ultimate autumn comfort food -- hearty, nourishing and velvety smooth. It's an ultra clean, simple recipe that’s warming, rich in texture, and brimming with a delicious autumn flavour profile.

This fall, I've been really into making my own pumpkin puree (it's easy, and I tell you how I do it in the post!). It's so much better than store-bought. One day when I was experimenting, I tried some in a smoothie, combined with sweet and creamy persimmon, and spicy fall flavours like fresh ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. This is one of my favourite smoothies yet -- it tastes like an indulgent treat, but it's brimming with healthy, nourishing ingredients! Next time you're craving a pumpkin dessert, try whipping up this smoothie instead -- it will totally satisfy your craving, and nourish your body at the same time! It actually reminds me of a delicious Pumpkin Trifle that my boyfriend's Mom makes for the holidays.
